The Amigos played themselves into form for saturday with the team having a 3 players recording 3-0 wins. Keep this short and sharp, The Honchos beat the Ball Busters, with Sam Brown and Tim Cornish completing their undefeated seasons with wins over Walter Koteka and Brendan Cocks respectively. Richard Slim built a big enough lead after 2 games to hold off Chris Purnell. Gavin Treacy has come back from a few weeks off, and hit some good form again with a win over Marc Van Heemst. Tim Cowell notched up win #2 of the season with a 3-0 win over Adam Jenkin. In the Penultimate round for the 2011 PSL Season, we got a look into the potential finals match ups, and if the finals are anything like what we got last night, it's going to be exciting. The top 2 teams: The Head Honchos and The 3 Amigos had a dress rehearsal for the grand final to be played in 10 days time, and it was the Amigos who got the upper hand by the smallest of margins. Sam Brown got the better of Tim Cowell 3-0 to get them off to a good start. 12-0 Honchos. Then Paul Hey and Adrian Marchesi were too strong for their opponents, each beating Gavin Treacy & Wade McNabb 2-1. Amigos 20-16. Brendan Cocks then produced one of the seasons biggest upsets, beating David Ilich in a very close match by 1 point but only won a single game. This tied the night at 24-24, but with the Amigos having the larger virtories, won on total points count back 182-176. Having the very last bye for the season next week, the Westpac Migrants really needed a win tonight to all but guarantee themselves a top 4 finish, and that they did, but again, we had to go back to total points count back to decide a winner, and the Migrants beat the Pitaro Home Builders 202-186. The big guns for the Builders were firing, with David White and Jack Molloy both winning 3-0 over Patrick Woods and Ian Douglass. But the Migrants hit back with big wins to Eddie Carver and Dale Edgar, who got the better of Sam Wendt and Ashby Farrell. It was only a matter of time before Ashby blew his stack, and it was Referee Sue Cowell who had to keep him under control, but as handed out 15 penalty points, he may have cost his team vital match points, and a top 4 finish. In the Absence of #1 Player Walter Koteka, the Ball Busters late season surge came to a screeching halt, with cellar-dwellers Chesterfield Physio Crusaders getting their 2nd win for the season. Walter's venture to Bali for "Training" (We know he is a toolie) Has all but cost the Ball Busters a top 4 finish, with 3 teams fighting for those 2 places, they will need a massive win against the Head Honchos, and the Builders a massive loss, to have a chance...Mathematically possible, not likely Tim Cornish escaped by the narrowest margin to continue the season long winning streak now tallying 17, coming from 7 points down in the last game to scrape over the line against Adam Jenkin.Scott Jeffries had a 3-0 win over Steve Petera, and Ben Hornibrook made a PSL Comeback with 5 point win over Chris Purnell. Matt Bridle and Marc Van Heemst played out the seasons 2nd total draw, with each player winning a game by 4 points, and drawing the last. The last week of the PSL Season is next week, with Round 21 and the Finals Play-offs both at MIRRABOOKA SQUASH. The FInals play-offs kick off at 10am, so be at Mirrabooka for 9.30 to get your team ready. THE PLAYING ORDER FOR FINALS DAY IS 4,1,3,2 The Gala dinner is coming up fast, so dust you suits off, and get your transport sorted, and get set for a good night! |

The Head Honchos have extended their lead at the top of the ladder with a strong 38-16 win over the Chesterfield Physio Crusaders. Sam Brown was too good for Ben Morrison, winning 3-0. Richard Slim turned up a bit under the weather, and fought past the mental battle to play one of his most solid games for the season, beating Matt Bridle with relative ease. PSL late starter Adam Jenkin was his teams only shining light for the night, with a dominant win over Brendan Cocks by 24 points, and the battle of the Cambridge Boys was won by Wade McNabb, who beat Paul Campbell in a good contest. Patrick Woods and Chris Lark couldn't be separated in the first two games, sharing them 14-14 17-17, but it was Patrick who got the better in the last game to win by 2 points. Ian Douglas is hitting form, but its a shame he will be leaving perth next week to head back to his native country England. He gave Jake Davidson a 3-0 chopping. Brendan Baker is proving his worth as a very handy reserve, beating a strong Andy Davis at #4 by 26 points. Dale Edgar has proved to be his teams most valuable player this season, and again stepped up in a match dominated by arms and legs all over the court, beating Kieran Dadley 2-1. Tim Cornish still manages to stay unbeaten, despite all the challengers, he just puts them back in their place. Last night it was Dave Ilich who tried to stop the run, but was belted off court with a barrage of cornish brilliance, to make it 16 in a row. Chris Purnell late season form surge has helped his team rocket into contention for the final 4, and disposed of Sione Kaliatama 2-1. Walter Koteka only needed one game to build a big enough lead to put Tim Cowell's night to sleep, with a 16 point gap, but Tim fought back hard, but it wasn't enough. And on a Dull night for the Amigos, Paul Hey was a shone brightest, winning his 10th match of the season. |

As the season draws to a close, teams and players need to start hitting their best form for finals, to maximise your teams chance to walk away with some sweet cash at the gala! Its only 3 weeks away, so get prepared. Patrick Woods just couldn't help himself last night against David Ilich, he just had to have a few nice words with Neil, and by the 6 points worth of penalty strokes, Neil might just not like Patrick. Nelson Clarkes injury re-appeared last night, but Dale Edgar didn't care, and gave him a flogging! Eddie Carver put to sleep Luke Bunting Undefeated season with a 2 point victory, Well done Ed. And Paul Hey continued to be a pivotal part of the 3 Amigos team, with an unexpected win over Ian Douglas. The 3 Amigos have all but cemented their place in the top 2, and Westpac are still fighting to save their 4th position. The Ball Busters have made a late charge to finish in the top 4 with a 40-14 win over the 3rd placed Pitaro Home Builders. The Tim Cornish train is still rolling along, with 15 wins in a row, he is on his way to a perfect season, and took Jack Molloy to the cleaners last night. Walter Koteka put in a solid performance against Dave White to win 2-1. Chris Purnell defeated Ashby Farrell 2-1, and Ashby also cost himself a racquet, much to the delight of some squash centre owner, and Drew Cooper won a tough match against Marc Van Heemst 3-0. The Head Honchos have continued their yo-yo battle with the Amigos for top spot, but a commanding 53-1 win over the Schweppes Gators put them back at the top! Wade McNabb, Brendan Cocks and Richard Slim all had 3-0 Victories over their younger opponents in Jamie Serra, Jake Davidson and Brendan Baker respectively. The old boys are pulling the team thought to the finals. Sam Brown had a tough one against Chris Lark, and Chris managed to steal a draw in the last game to get his teams only point for the night. |

As the season is drawing to a close, we can almost see how the final placings are going to look, but stranger things have happened. The 3 Amigos are sitting on the top of the PSL Ladder on 501 points, and 11 points behind them are the Head Honchos who are sitting nicely on 490 points. Both teams have had their BYE, so so it puts them in good stead, as the rest of the competition have a break week coming up. In 3rd position is the Dave White led Pitaro Home Builders, who on paper can be a real threat, but with Jack Molloys Roller-coaster season form, who knows what kind of match he will play next. In 4th are the Westpac Migrants, who have the last BYE for the season, so its crucial for them to finish their remaining games strongly to avoid slipping to 5th and missing the 3/4 play-off. 5th placed are the shift-a-wall ball busters, with the undefeated Tim Cornish leading the way for the team, and with their bye out the way, a few good wins can land them in the top 4. In the battle for last place is the Schweppes Gators and Chesterfield Physio Crusaders, and I cant see either team shifting from the bottom 2 places, and should be an exciting race to the bottom! Dave White showed who is the superior Dave down at hilton with a 3-0 demolition of Training partner David Ilich. Paul Hey caused a major upset, after a close match with Jack Molloy, he scraped home to win by a point! Luke Bunting was too strong for Drew Cooper and continues his undefeated season, and Nelson Clarke beat Ashby Farrell by 3 points. Richard slim showed his dedication to the team, sneaking out on his wedding anniversary to grab a solid win over Eddie Carver. Sam Brown continued his undefeated season as well with a 3-0 win over Patrick Woods. Subiaco Team Mates Brendan Cocks and Ian Douglas were only separated by 2 points heading into the last game, but Brendo stormed home to win the last by 13 points. Andy Davis was the sole winner for the Migrants, who beat Wade Mcnabb comfortably. Ben Morrison and Chris Lark played the Lowest Scoring match of the season, with Ben winning 9-8 12-4 3-9. Adam Jenkin has slotted into the Crusaders team in the absence of Liam Bailey, and record a solid win over Kieran Dadley. Paul Campbell was too good for Jamie Serra with a 3-0 win, and Sione Kaliatama won a tight one against reserve Michael Bishop DONT FORGET THE PSL BALL COMING UP ON SATURDAY 10TH OF DECEMBER AT HILLARYS YACHT CLUB, ITS A BLACK TIE EVENT, SO GET YOUR SUITS READY, ORGANISE SOME GOOD TRANSPORT OR ACCOM TO MAKE THE MOST OF A GOOD NIGHT, AND LET DEAN AND KANE KNOW IF YOU ARE FLYING SOLO, AS EACH PERSON WILL BE ALLOCATED 2 TICKETS OUT OF THEIR PAYMENTS OTHERWISE.
